The International Shiloh Shepherd™ Registry,
Inc. is the only registry authorized to recognize a dog as a Shiloh
Shepherd™. The ISSR was formed
to protect the public from purchasing a dog falsely represented to be a
Shiloh Shepherd™and to protect the genetic
future of the breed. Thus, only dogs having a certificate of registration
issued by the ISSR may be considered a Shiloh Shepherd™.
Unfortunately, there is an
alarming increase in the number of dogs and breeds of dogs being produced
without regard for temperament safety or being produced deliberately for a
vicious and dangerous temperament. Only dogs bred by an ISSR Licensed
Breeder are eligible for ISSR registration. The ISSR polices its Licensed
Breeders to ensure that no breeder knowingly breeds a dog or bitch that
may produce a dangerous temperament. Likewise, the ISSR polices the dogs
within its registry to document and maintain a temperament profile of
every breedable dog in the registry. No dog may be bred before the
results of its temperament test have been reviewed. Dogs that do not pass
the ISSR’s Temperament Testing Program are not considered breedable.

Anyone
who purchases a dog that is called a Shiloh Shepherd™
but is not eligible for ISSR registration should be aware that the dog may
carry genetic temperament and/or genetic health problems. |
These dogs did not come about by accident, "HUNDREDS OF LITTERS HAD TO BE BORN AND THOUSANDS of puppies were tested, using various
combinations of American and German lines. Only the best possible offspring were retained,
to be used for future breedings." A very complex
LMX (Littermate-information) system was
designed to weed out any inferior recessive genes. This later proved to be of IMMENSE
value in helping breeders to better understand the TOTAL "GENETIC MAKEUP"
(BLUEPRINT) of their stock. Specially designed-detailed pedigrees, using the latest
computer technology can be obtained through the ISSR.
Tina Barber has been breeding German Shepherd Dogs since 1962. She was active in
Conformation shows as well as Schutzhund, Search and Rescue, etc. In 1974 she chose to set
her standard back to the old style VERY LARGE type Shepherds. She changed her Kennel name
to "Shiloh
Shepherds™" and spent the next 16 years diligently pursuing her goals.
In 1990 she separated her "breed" type from AKC and started to maintain all
registry records. The FIC was hired to record all data, as per her very specific
instructions. Unfortunately it was too difficult for them to keep track of the many
requirements that Tina insisted on. Over the next two years, Tina tracked down volumes of
LMX data taken from her breeders books, pedigrees and memory. A uniquely intense Data Base
program was specially designed by TCCP to document these volumes of data.
TCCP is under
contract to the ISSR and continues to maintain these records.
At this time the TCCP has over 45,000 Shiloh Shepherd™ ancestors in that
data base, making it the most complete
and
accurate of any independent "rare breed" registry!
Since its inception
thousands of
Shiloh
Shepherds™ have met the
rigorous
requirements set by the breed founder,
and are currently registered with the ISSR, Inc.
A complete listing of all litters born is maintained on our websites.

The ISSR, Inc. is a corporation (not a club) in order to protect the future of our
breed! Funds derived from registrations have always been used to pay for professional
data processing services (TCCP) with the remainder going to the SSDCA, Inc. (the club) for
promotion of the breed. All SSDCA members feel that the integrity of our
registrations must not be compromised! "Clubs" that run
their own "registries" through volunteer efforts have had many problems in the
past. Most of these groups have ended up turning their records over to the AKC, in order
to regain credibility for their breed or closing up shop, leaving their
"breeders" with no place to register their litters.
The ISSR is totally dedicated to the future welfare of this breed!
